Rookie and T-Ball Rules
This T-ball league gives batters 5 swings to hit the ball at least 7 feet (foul on 5th swing continues, miss is out). Infield hits are singles, outfield hits are doubles. Teams bat through 9 players before switching sides, not after 3 outs. Games last 60 minutes or 4 innings. All players bat in order and must rotate positions (max 2 innings per position). Key rules: helmets required, no advancement on overthrows, coaches can’t touch runners, and late players go to the end of the lineup. Full set of rules here.
Coach Pitch Minor Rules
This coach-pitch league gives batters exactly 5 pitches (foul on 5th is an out), with innings ending after 3 outs or 5 runs maximum. Ten players field (four outfielders), all players bat, and games last 5 innings or 1 hour 15 minutes. No leadoffs allowed—runners must stay on base until the ball is hit. Balls over the cones are home runs, balls rolling past are ground-rule doubles, and infield hits don’t allow extra bases. All pitches must be overhand, no bunting allowed, and outfielders must stay beyond intermediate cones. Players rotate positions (max 2 innings per spot), helmets required for batters and runners, no advancement on overthrows, and coaches can’t physically assist runners or the runner is out. Full set of rules here.
Major Rules
This Major League uses a hybrid format with 1 kid-pitch inning (no pitch limit, max 3 runs per inning, pitchers limited to 1 inning and must face 3 batters) and coach-pitch innings (5-pitch limit with foul on 5th as an out, max 5 runs per inning). Games last 5 innings or 1 hour 15 minutes with ten fielders and all players batting.
Key differences from Minor:
- Runners can advance one base on overthrows (but not on wild pitches)
- Full-face guard helmets required (no partial guards allowed)
- Kid-pitch inning with 3-run max vs. coach-pitch innings with 5-run max
- Pitching restrictions: 1 inning per pitcher, must face 3 batters, fastballs only
- Male catchers must wear cups
Same as Minor: No leadoffs, no bunting, balls over cones are home runs, infield hits allow no extra bases, outfielders beyond intermediate cones, players rotate positions (max 2 innings per spot), and coaches can’t physically assist runners. Full set of rules here.
